- The Korean Industrial Standards (KS) are national standards established under the Industrial Standardization Act. They are finalized and announced by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) following deliberation by the Industrial Standards Council, and are denoted by the abbreviation “KS.”
- The Korean Industrial Standards consist of 21 sectors, ranging from the Basic Sector (A) to the Information Sector (X), and can be broadly classified into the following three categories.

- Product Standards: Standards that specify the performance, dimensions, quality, and other characteristics of a product.
- Method Standards: Standards that specify testing, analysis, inspection, measurement methods, and work procedures.
- Transmission Standards: Standards that define terminology, notation, units, sequences, and similar technical elements.
