Development of the Bottled Spring Water Certification System

Purpose
To establish a quality and safety management system in response to the growing size and consumption of the bottled spring water market.
Activities
  1. Conduct a study on domestic and international bottled spring water markets and certification systems
  2. Review legal feasibility for operating a bottled spring water certification system
  3. Prepare detailed operational requirements to enhance the quality and safety of bottled spring water
  4. Hold stakeholder consultation meetings to collect opinions on certification system operations
  5. Establish a demonstration project implementation plan

Develop and design an educational curriculum for drinking-water quality managers and prepare an operational plan

Legal Basis

An institution designated to provide training on quality management pursuant to Article 17(4) of the Enforcement Rule of the Drinking Water Management Act.

Training Targets
Manufacturers and quality managers of bottled spring water, water treatment chemicals, and water purifiers
Activities
  1. Review relevant laws and similar training program cases
  2. Develop the curriculum and prepare a draft pool of instructors
  3. Prepare a draft plan for establishing the training-operation organization
  4. Establish measures to satisfy fee-related and legal requirements
  5. Present strategies to improve nationwide accessibility to training

Demonstration Operation of the Water Supply Facilities Safety Verification System

Purpose
To prevent the installation of illegal or defective water-supply materials by verifying at the purchasing and installation stages whether certified products are properly used.

Purpose
To introduce a labeling system that encourages the development and purchase of water-efficient products.

  1. Investigate domestic and international water-efficiency rating and labeling systems, and management standards
  2. Develop rating criteria and establish the labeling system for water-use efficiency
  3. Prepare a draft operational framework and legal amendments
  4. Establish stakeholder cooperation measures and strategies to enhance implementation effectiveness
